Answer: Leslie Lynch King Jr.

Believe it or not, Gerald R. Ford had a different birth name. Born on July 14th, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents Leslie Lynch King and Dorothy Ayer King, Gerald’s parents separated soon after he was born. As a result Dorothy moved with her son to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she met a local paint salesman, Gerald Rudolph Ford. After the two got married, Dorothy and Gerald began calling the younger Leslie, Gerald R. Ford Jr. Gerald Jr.’s name would not be legally changed until years later in 1935.
